2025 Sustainability Impact Report

Our 2025 Sustainability Impact Report marks another important step forward in our Beyond Cleaning strategy, building on the strong foundations set in 2024 and continuing to turn commitments into measurable action.

Over the past 12 months, we have strengthened our approach across all four pillars of our strategy, delivering real progress for our people, our clients, our communities and the environment.

A year of measurable progress

This year’s report demonstrates how responsible business practices are embedded into everyday operations, with clear outcomes across environmental, social and governance priorities.

Key highlights include

  • 44% reduction in CO2 per vehicle compared to the previous year
  • 4,500 tonnes of CO2e emissions saved through decarbonisation activity
  • 20% reduction in carbon intensity across deliveries
  • 64.1% reduction in waste related emissions
  • 10.8% decrease in Scope 2 emissions
  • 15% increase in recycling rates across sites

Alongside this, our long term ambition remains clear, with a Science Based Target initiative verified Net Zero target set for 2040.

Empowering our people

Our people remain at the heart of everything we do, and 2025 has seen continued investment in wellbeing, development and inclusion.

  • 75% of colleagues are now paid the Real Living Wage, up from 65.43% in 2024
  • 15% increase in women in senior leadership roles
  • 100% of supervisors and managers completed sustainability training
  • 58% engagement with our new benefits platform within the first 60 days
  • Over 90% training engagement maintained through UhUb Gold status

We also introduced new initiatives including Facility Apps, Virtual Medical Care and Personal Accident Insurance, giving our teams better tools, stronger support and improved day-to-day experience at work.

Creating a positive legacy

Supporting our communities and reducing environmental impact continues to be a key focus.

  • Over £15,000 raised for charities
  • 300+ hours volunteered on average per year
  • £17,000 spent with VCSEs
  • 500+ hours of work created for disadvantaged groups
  • 3,000 square feet of forest planted through reforestation projects
  • 360 trees planted since 2023

From partnerships with organisations like The Toy Project and Grove Cottage to fundraising challenges and community engagement, our teams have continued to create meaningful social value where it matters most.

Driving environmental innovation

We have continued to invest in smarter, more sustainable ways of working, using technology and innovation to reduce our impact.

  • Waste management systems reduced contamination by 15% and improved recycling performance
  • Real time data tools increased recycling rates by 10% at key client sites
  • 84% of product spend is now on sustainably rated products
  • Up to 85% lower emissions achieved through switching to eco cleaning products

Our approach combines data, technology and behavioural change to deliver long term environmental improvements across both our own operations and our client sites.

Inspiring bold action

Collaboration continues to play a vital role in our progress.

Throughout 2025, we worked closely with clients, partners and industry bodies to share knowledge, challenge perceptions and raise standards across the sector. This included industry panels, school engagement through Bright Futures, recycling awareness initiatives and supplier collaboration events.

By creating opportunities for open dialogue and shared learning, we are helping to drive positive change beyond our own business.

Ensuring safer, more responsible operations

Our commitment to strong governance and responsible procurement has delivered measurable results.

  • 75% average ESG score across our supply chain
  • 34% reduction in carbon intensity through procurement improvements
  • Over 4,000kg of CO2e emissions avoided
  • 55kg of textiles recycled through sustainable workwear initiatives

We have also strengthened supplier accountability through structured reviews, ensuring all partners align with our ESG standards and long term goals.

Looking ahead to 2026

As our Beyond Cleaning strategy reaches the end of its initial cycle, we are preparing to refine and evolve our approach for the next phase.

This will include

  • Enhanced ESG reporting through DOC Engage
  • Continued rollout of digital operational systems
  • Greater integration of sustainability across all services
  • A refreshed strategy aligned to future growth and client expectations

Our focus remains on delivering high quality services while creating lasting positive impact for our people, our clients and the communities we serve.
