Supporting a Cleaner Thames at Gabriel’s Wharf

DOC Cleaning beach clean

Six DOC Cleaning colleagues joined representatives from CBRE and the South Bank Employers' Group for a beach clean at Gabriel's Wharf on London's South Bank, organised by Recorra.

The volunteering initiative brought together colleagues, clients and local partners to help protect the Thames environment through practical litter collection, while making a positive contribution to the local community.

Working Together for a Cleaner Thames

Located along London’s South Bank, Gabriel’s Wharf is part of a busy riverside environment enjoyed by residents, workers and visitors. However, litter and waste along the Thames foreshore can pose risks to local wildlife and affect the surrounding environment.

Working alongside fellow volunteers, our colleagues Arthur Andrews, Luke Smith, Charley Stewart, Josie Blayney, Ella McGuinness and Siggi Roberts-Twinn helped collect discarded waste from the riverside.

Together, volunteers collected 13.1kg of litter, making a tangible contribution towards maintaining a cleaner and more welcoming Thames foreshore.

The day also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships between organisations, bringing colleagues and partners together outside their usual working environments to support a shared environmental cause.

Recognising Our Contribution

Following the event, DOC Cleaning received a Recognition of Service Award from Recorra, acknowledging our team’s contribution to the beach clean.

The initiative reflects our wider commitment to environmental responsibility, community engagement and our Beyond Cleaning strategy, demonstrating how collaborative volunteering can deliver positive outcomes beyond our day-to-day operations.

We would like to thank Recorra for organising the event, alongside CBRE, the South Bank Employers’ Group and all colleagues who participated.
