Case Study – ATP Testing

A surface may look clean, but that does not necessarily mean it is clean. Some contamination and debris cannot be seen with the naked eye – a challenge brought into focus with the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020.

Prior to the pandemic, at DOC we had already begun to research systems that we could potentially use to scientifically measure and record our cleaning standards. The ATP test quickly measures actively growing microorganisms through the detection of adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. Whilst many other methods exist for evaluating cleanliness, ATP bioluminescence is the only method that combines quantitative data collection with scientific measurement and still delivers speedy results.

In 2019 we purchased the Hygiena EnSURE Touch system, the market leader in ATP testing. EnSURE Touch is an advanced monitoring system that collects, analyses and reports results from a variety of tests, providing rapid and accurate sanitation verification data. It is designed to adapt to any workplace or area, providing robust and quantitative data to confirm that surfaces have been cleaned to a hygienic state.
