In October last year, at our 2024 Beyond Cleaning Awards, Alex Ramirez received the Bob Andrews Rising Star Award – a recognition that celebrates emerging talent within DOC Cleaning and those who embody our values each and every day.
One year later, Alex’s progress tells the story of someone who has not only lived up to that title but has continued to grow as a professional and a role model within our organisation.
A Year of Development
Since receiving the ‘Rising Star’ title, Alex has continued to excel at Moor Place. Moor Place – the 12-storey office building next to Moorgate Station in the city of London – has been under our provision since 2014.
Alex’s hard work and commitment quickly led to promotion. Within a month of the 2024 Beyond Cleaning Awards, he became Site Supervisor, taking responsibility for managing and scheduling periodic works. By June, following a series of successful site reviews and audits, Alex advanced again – this time to Area Supervisor, a role he now holds with pride.
In March 2025, Moor Place underwent an audit covering ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001 standards. The feedback from auditors was extremely positive, recognising both the quality of work delivered on-site and the effective leadership shown by Alex and his team.
Milestones and Achievements
Over the past year, Alex has taken on significant new responsibilities and achieved measurable progress, including sustainability impact.
Alex successfully launched a new waste management initiative in Moor Place’s loading bay, initially achieving a 60% recycling rate, which has since increased to 78%. The team introduced Weightron systems to improve the process of monitoring and analysis, enhancing sustainability efforts across the site through tracking recycling efforts in real-time.
Alex’s consistent drive to improve processes, support his colleagues and deliver outstanding results for clients has been evident throughout the entire process.
Developing Skills and Confidence
Alex has completed several training courses with high scores, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to learning and professional growth.
He earned the Recorra ‘Trainer of Training’ certification for the cardboard compactor and bin press, enabling him to train others safely and efficiently. He also strengthened his digital and operational skills, becoming confident in Templa and MyCompliance, and now uses them daily to manage contracts, hours and communications across multiple sites.
I’ve developed strong skills in using applications like MyCompliance, managing hours and tasks across contracts, and responding to client requests. Every day is a learning experience. Mastering Templa was a big challenge at first, but now I handle it confidently.
Alex’s journey reflects the culture of opportunity that the Beyond Cleaning Awards are designed to promote. Through taking initiative, hard work and collaboration, he has developed strong technical, digital and leadership skills.
His growth mindset has helped Alex progress from a site-based role to managing wider operations. Alex’s path that demonstrates how talent can flourish when given the chance.
Reflections on the Award
Alex was presented the award by Lee Andrews and Danny Andrews during their final year as Managing Directors.
Now serving as Joint Chairmen, Lee and Danny have dedicated their careers to preserving and expanding the vision of their father, Bob Andrews, guiding DOC Cleaning to the strong position it holds today. In early 2025, it was announced that the torch would pass to Lee T Andrews and Jamie Bull to lead the company into its next phase of success.
The Bob Andrews Rising Star Award carries significant meaning and is regarded as one of the highest honours within the company. Alex was carefully chosen to receive the award following a thorough review by senior leaders.
When asked what winning the Bob Andrews Rising Star Award meant to him, Alex shared:
Winning the Bob Andrews Rising Star Award gave me a deep sense of personal satisfaction. It showed me that hard work brings results. I feel happy, motivated to grow, and ready to take on new challenges. I’m committed to contributing to our team every day.
He also expressed gratitude for the people who supported his journey:

And, of course, I’d like to thank all the operatives who work with me daily and make it all possible.
