Poppy Kirby, Administrative & Marketing Support, and Ella McGuinness, People Advisor, joined one of the charity’s creative classes, spending time supporting participants through a range of arts and crafts activities.
The session provided an opportunity to engage directly with the local community, build meaningful connections and contribute to an inclusive initiative that brings people together through creativity.
About Arts For All
Arts For All UK is a community creative centre that provides accessible art programmes for adults and children, including individuals with learning disabilities and those who may face barriers to participation.
Through structured weekly sessions, the charity creates a welcoming environment where participants can explore different art forms, develop new skills, build confidence and connect with others.
By making creative activities accessible to people from a wide range of backgrounds, Arts For All plays an important role in encouraging social inclusion and strengthening relationships within the local community.
Getting Involved In Creative Activities
During the volunteering session, Poppy and Ella joined participants in a variety of creative activities, including painting, water painting and bracelet making.
Poppy spent time working alongside Debbie, helping her create bracelets in preparation for the group’s upcoming annual trip to Devon. Meanwhile, Ella supported Robert and other participants with their painting activities.
Throughout the session, volunteers and participants worked together, shared conversations and developed connections through their shared creative experiences.
Rather than simply providing practical assistance, the day gave our colleagues an opportunity to become actively involved in the charity’s work and experience first-hand the positive environment it creates for participants.
Creating A Lasting Impact
The volunteering day highlighted how giving time and supporting community initiatives can make a meaningful difference.
Supporting Community Inclusion
By taking part in the creative class, our colleagues helped support activities designed to encourage self-expression, communication and social interaction.
The session demonstrated the importance of accessible creative opportunities in bringing people together and providing an environment where individuals can participate, develop their skills and feel included.
Building Meaningful Connections
Beyond the creative activities themselves, the day provided an opportunity for our team to connect with participants and gain a greater understanding of the charity’s work.
Working alongside members of the group allowed Poppy and Ella to experience the value of community-focused volunteering, while contributing to an environment centred around creativity, collaboration and inclusion.
The experience also highlighted how volunteering can create positive outcomes through simple actions, from offering practical support to sharing conversations and building relationships.
