DOC Cleaning & The National Theatre Shortlisted For PFM Partnership Awards 2026

We're proud to announce that our partnership with the National Theatre has been shortlisted as a finalist in the PFM Partnership Awards 2026 within the Partners in Cleaning category.

The recognition comes shortly after celebrating our first year at the iconic National Theatre, one of the UK’s most prestigious cultural venues. Since mobilisation, our team has worked closely with the National Theatre to support a complex, high-footfall estate.

National Theatre Partnership

From the outset, DOC Cleaning and the National Theatre have approached the contract as a true working partnership. The service is tailored around the venue operating as a public space, a workplace and a performance environment.

This has required close coordination, flexible planning and a strong understanding of the National Theatre’s daily operations. Both teams have worked together to maintain standards, respond to changing priorities and support a consistently high-quality environment.

Tim Dare, Head of Support Services at the National Theatre, described the relationship as a “strong and collaborative partnership”, reflecting how DOC has aligned its service to the demands of a complex estate operating across multiple performance spaces, public areas and backstage environments.

Innovation, Sustainability and Service Improvement

Innovation has played an important role in supporting the partnership. New equipment and processes have been introduced to improve productivity, hygiene standards and service responsiveness across the site.

This has included wider use of mechanised cleaning, specialist equipment for washrooms and external areas, the introduction of digital reporting and shared performance tracking to improve visibility and accountability, and the delivery of environmental and social value through social enterprise procurement, sustainable washroom products and ongoing supply chain monitoring.

Celebrating the People Behind the Service

The team recently shared:

May you be proud of the work you do, the person you are, and the difference you make.

This sentiment reflects the people behind the service delivery at the National Theatre and the positive impact they continue to make every day.

A special thank you goes to everyone involved in the partnership, including Site Manager Angela Alvares, whose leadership has helped support mobilisation, embed standards and build a positive team culture on site.

Next Stage of the Judging Process

The next stage of the PFM Partnership Awards process will involve a formal site inspection by independent judges. This will provide an opportunity to showcase the work being delivered across the contract and the strength of the partnership between DOC Cleaning and the National Theatre.

The PFM Partnership Awards ceremony is on the 4th November 2026, where the winners will be announced.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this achievement. We look forward to the next stage of judging and to continuing our successful partnership with the National Theatre.
